History of Milan Center Feed & Grain
In 1963, Marvin and Joan Stieglitz purchased Milan Center Feed & Grain, NE of Fort Wayne in the heart of Amish country. Over the years, the independent, family-owned business has provided livestock feed for all species, ranging from rabbits to horses, chickens to dairy cows, as well as beef, goats and sheep. The Stieglitz family has maintained a presence in the business for over 45 years, with a daughter, Beth, in the office and a son, Lynn, returning from Michigan State University in 1979 to help with the general management. The third generation is now involved in leadership of the operation, with Lynn’s son, Jeremy, as Vice President and Operations Manager, and a son-in-law, Trent Regier as Sales Manager.
Continuing to Grow
In 2003, following a devastating fire in the vacated Brueggemann buildings, a 10,000 square foot country store was constructed on the corner of Doty and Milan Center roads. The presence of the store is evidence of MCF&G’s commitment to supporting all aspects of life in rural Allen County. There is a thriving wild bird business featuring freshly mixed, custom wild bird food and birding supplies. We also cater to the small farmer and 4-H family, while still offering niche products and weekly deliveries to livestock producers of all sizes. We offer a complete property maintenance line-up, including lawn care, pond care and garden supplies for homeowners as well as supplying local landscape operations. MCF&G also offers a full line of companion animal foods for dogs, cats, horses and any pet that finds their way into your heart and home. Our mill is still involved in feed production and delivery. Our fleet of trucks, from box vans to semi-trailers, are on the road five days a week. Seasonal events like chick days, hay and straw auctions, special sales, show feed clinics, and more are further evidence of our commitment to animal husbandry and poultry production, as well as 4-H and show projects, over a seven-county area.
